In its World report on disability, the WHO states that about 15% of the world’s population lives with some form of disability, of whom 2-4% experience significant difficulties in functioning.
Since more than 30 years MoveAbility is active in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) with the aim to reducing the barriers and challenges faced by Persons with Disabilities.
Consistent with a sustainable development approach, we are working on strengthening national capacities in the field, by involving all the stakeholders in our actions and measures. In addition to helping people gain or regain mobility, we also support our partners and other stakeholders in developing or strengthening activities for social and economic inclusion and participation.
To respond to the growing disability prevalence, particulary in LMICs, MoveAbility has developed a 5-year strategy with the objective of expanding its activities and impact, with the ambition to change the lives of 350’000 persons with disabilities across continents.
