The SFD participates into a workshop to discuss the finalisation of the Charter on Inclusion of persons with disabilities in humanitarian action and the related Action Plan, which will be central to the special session on “Inclusion of persons with disabilities in humanitarian action” at the World Humanitarian Summit in May 2016 in Istanbul. This aims to ensure that the priority to “leave no one behind” is realized in Istanbul and beyond.
This workshop is co-organized by the Permanent Mission of Australia, Permanent Mission of Finland, Handicap International, International Disability Alliance and the UN Interagency Support Group for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (currently chaired by UNHCR), the World Humanitarian Summit Secretariat, CBM, Human Rights Watch and the Women Refugee Commission.
The workshop gathers experts and representatives from States, international organizations, UN agencies, organizations of persons with disabilities and non-governmental organizations.
