nicaraguaNicaragua ratified the UNCRPD in 2007. Since then, the Ministry of Health (MoH) provides free physical rehabilitation services at state-run centres: the government-run Centro Nacional de Ortesis y Protesis (CENAPRORTO) is the national reference center, and supervises the activities of two satellite centres in remote areas. However, these centres need more funding and qualified staff.

Some NGOs – including our partner, Fundación para la Rehabilitacion Walking Unidos (FURWUS), which has centres in Leon and Managua – also provide services, but some patients cannot afford their fees.
