Don Bosco University (UDB) and MoveAbility have renewed their cooperation agreement, which aims to improve the education in the physical rehabilitation sector. Its purpose is to provide specific training to the teachers of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences, at UDB, and to the professionals of the sector. Another important contribution of the agreement is to improve the physical rehabilitation services for the persons with disabilities (PwD) in El Salvador.
The agreement was signed by Max Deneu, Director of Operations at the ICRC MoveAbility Foundation, and Mario Olmos, Rector of the UDB.
“Thanks to the cooperation agreement with the UDB and the alliances with other institutions and stakeholders in the country’s physical rehabilitation sector, we are positive about the development for the benefit of the persons with disabilities” said Max Deneu
He added that the UDB is a strategic partner for the Foundation, because it is the only institution having the accreditation of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) in Latin America.
For his part, Mario Olmos, rector of the UDB, said that these types of agreements respond to the social commitment of both institutions to help improve access to physical rehabilitation services for people with limited resources.
The Faculty began its work in 1996, first in El Salvador and Central America, and over time has spread through Latin America.
The long term alliance between the two institutions has resulted in the organization of numerous trainings and seminars with foreign experts. In addition, MoveAbility helps the UDB with the financing for the purchase of equipment and materials for the students and has also offered scholarships for students in the physical rehabilitation sector.
