The role of the Board is to steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.
MoveAbility is governed by a Board comprising representatives of:
- the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC),
- the donor’s community,
- the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
- people with disabilities.
Our activities in the field and at Headquarters are funded exclusively by donations from governments, National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, foundations, and private donors.
The budget and funding mechanism is independent from the ICRC and external auditors examine our accounts yearly.
Our yearly accounts and activities are reported in our annual report. The ICRC provides us with administrative, logistic and technical support (in service contribution).
Our work is part of the ICRC Health and Physical Rehabilitation Strategy.
The Executive Team
The Executive Director, appointed by the MoveAbility Board, is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Foundation. Together with his team, he implements the decisions in line with the strategy.
MoveAbility relies on administrative, logistical and technical support from the ICRC, both in the field and at its headquarters in Geneva. MoveAbility‘s field activities are supported through its 4 regional offices.
Our work in the field entails long-term collaboration with national partners such as government ministries, training institutions, physical rehabilitation service providers, associations of persons with disabilities and National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Our team in the field includes program managers, prosthetists & orthotists, physiotherapists, as well as disability advisors and public health consultants who support our partners with technical advice, coaching and training.
